There are surveys and research made on gender equality in the US academe, and found that discrimination still exists and these also give advice for women about it. But is it better than what we have here in the Philippines, or are we better off than those in the US? If discrimination is so bad, then that somehow makes preparing for graduate school, such as checking examples of personal statements and sample essay about myself, somehow in vain since one can't easily attain success in the academe. Is there any comparative study that looks at the situation both in the Philippines and the US?
